Abbi, on the left, and Mia, on the right, are two beautiful Golden Retrievers on their way to "summer camp" on Lake Vermilion in about 70 miles north of "Gitche Gumee," a native American name for Lake Superior (The Ojibwe tribe calls the lake Gichigami, meaning "big water"). This photograph was taken at a motel in Birmingham, Alabama, enroute north. Click on picture for larger image
By the way, about a year or so ago, when my spouse and I took care of Mia while her masters where away, my daughter left me some instructions. I reprinted them in a column. This piece became a favorite of dog-lovers and I re-posted it now as part of my re-build of this blog. It's on the PDF list on the right or click here if you'd care to read it.
