We all grieve, once again, as another mass murderer comes out of nowhere and, again, a horrible tragedy happens in Colorado. But it's happening elsewhere in this country too and as long as the National Rifle Association keeps persuading, by whatever means at their disposal, that 100-round assault rifles are necessary for personal defense and, therefore, should remain legal, and background checks to buy guns should be minimal, then these horrible events will continue to occur. My sympathies go out to the families of those who were killed or wounded on July 20, 2012, in that theater in Aurora.
James Fallows, national correspondent for The Atlantic magazine has written a brief but insightful piece on why these horrible shootings will continue to happen in America and I totally agree with him and The New Yorker writer he quotes. Read Fallows' brief essay by clicking here.
