Am reading Here,There and Everywhere by Geoff Emerick, recording technician for the Beatles at EMI's Abbey Road studios in London. It's a fascinating book for anyone interested in the creative process and, if you're a Beatles fan, that's a bonus. Geoff realized his career interest very early in life and went after a job at the EMI studios.
He developed cutting edge techniques that not only helped the Beatles with their sound, but pioneered some recording approaches that other artists and studios adopted. I happen to be reading the book on my Kindle, but the hard cover isn't that expensive. I give this book five stars! I love books about how "art" is made, whether it's writing, movie-making, photography, as well as all of the arts including audio recording. This treatise is one of those kinds of books and I'm glad I found it.
