The younger of our Florida kids' two female Golden Retrievers, Abbi (about 8 months), recently had surgery. She was spayed, an operation that removes the ovaries and uterus (hystero-oophorectomy), a procedure done as a form of birth control. I understand it also prevents a female from going into heat.
For a couple of weeks after the operation, it's important the dog doesn't touch the surgical wound. The first photograph shows Abbi with the preventative mask supplied by the vet. It looks like she's spooking her older "sister," Mia.
However, a more comfortable solution for the animal is a customized "one-piece outfit" made from two commercially-available "Onesies®," a garment normally used on human babies. It looks like it's working just fine on Abbi, who appears to enjoy her Onesey®. Onesies® is a registered trademark of Gerber Childrenswear LLC. Click on photos for larger images. Anyone who knows soccer would easily guess for whom these two "girls" are named.
